FTNFO: Flower That Never Falls Off
FTNFO: Flower That Never Falls Off is an international non-profit organization raising awareness for the fate of so-called comfort women, i.e. women and girls forced into sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Army in occupied territories before and during World War II. The term “comfort women” is a translation of the Japanese ianfu, an euphemism for prostitute.
I want to contribute to the enhancement of the rights of former comfort women by establishing FTNFO. In Korea, we still face a hard reality that is closely related to the problems of the comfort women’s various rights. Both governments of Korea and Japan are currently under political compromise and negotiation. However, It doesn't have any progress.
The goal of this organization is not to fight to against government. The goal of FTNFO is to understand them, communicate with them and educate people tragedy of the war. We can not never cure their scar, but we can be with them. We can listen them and we will never make this tragedy again.
To represent the theme of flowers that never fall off, one letter of the word is rotated by 45 degrees. Also shape of the flower petal is used as graphic element. The shapes and colors are derived from the Korean tradition of Dan Saek Hwa. As every flower has a different meanings, each shapes of graphic elements represent their messages, emotions, and youth.
